Ingredients
- 70 g All purpose flour, sifted
- 3 pcs Apples, cored, sliced
- 250 ml Milk, warmed
- 3 pcs Eggs
- 70 g Cane sugar
- 4 tbsp Butter, unsalted, melted
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract, alcohol-free
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
- 1 pinch Salt
Method
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, 1 tablespoon of cane sugar, and salt.
- Add eggs in, then mix precisely to avoid lumps.
- In batches, add milk, stirring constantly, then add vanilla and half of the melted butter.
- Let the batter rest for half an hour, then preheat the oven to 190°C.
- Prepare the apples: peel, core, and slice them.
- Mix the sugar with the cinnamon.
- Take a 5cm deep oven-proof skillet and melt the remaining butter.
- Coat the skillet on the sides with the butter, then add the sugar.
- Arrange the apple slices on the melting sugar and wait until the sugar starts to bubble.
- Take off from heat and add the batter carefully, then place the skillet into the oven.
- Bake on 220°C for 15 minutes then lower the heat to 190°C and bake for 15 more minutes.
- When it's done, place it onto a serving plate because if the caramel cools down and hardens at the bottom, it will be difficult to take it out from the skillet.
