Ingredients

  • 850 g Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 300 g Figs, trimmed, sliced
  • 100 g Butter, unsalted
  • 100 g Gluten free flour mix
  • 100 g Rolled oats
  • 60 g Brown sugar
  • 60 g White sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger, ground

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  2. Place the apples, figs, granulated sugar, and spices into a saucepan then cook on low heat for 15 minutes until the apples have softened into a pulp.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture into an oven-proof dish.
  4. Meanwhile, make the crumble topping by sifting the flour into a bowl.
  5. Add the butter and rub everything with fingers.
  6. When the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs, stir in the brown sugar and oats.
  7. Spoon crumble mixture onto apple and figs then press down lightly.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the topping is golden.
  9. Place on wire rack to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
