Ingredients

  • 500 g Homemade pizza dough
  • 1 tbsp Corn flour for dusting
  • 85 g Fontina, shredded
  • 85 g Provolone
  • 2 tbsp Salami, diced
  • 40 g Roasted red pepper, diced
  • 1 tbsp Kalamata olives
  • 1 pcs Egg

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C and place the oven rack at the center.
  2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into about 12 circles then transfer them to 3 heavy baking sheets that have been dusted with corn flour.
  3. Combine the fontina, provolone, peppers, salami, and olives in a medium bowl. In a small bowl, beat the egg together with 1 tablespoon of water.
  4. Place about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mix onto one half of the circles leaving a bare border at the edge. Brush the border with the egg wash and fold the empty half over the filled half. Press the edges together with your fingers or using the tines of a fork. Do this for the remaining circles.
  5. Lightly brush the calzones with the remaining egg wash. Bake for about 15 minutes; rotate the baking sheets halfway through the baking time then remove from the oven once it turns golden brown.
  6. Serve warm
